The national retail chain Family Dollar has plans to open a new store in Havelock.
Katrina Marshall, Havelock planning director, said that Family Dollar plans to open an 8,320 square-foot store at 320 West Main St. The location is on an acre lot zoned highway commercial with 200 feet of frontage on the service road between Friendly Pawn and the Sherwood Motel.
Havelock City Manager Jim Freeman approved 839 gallons of sewer use for the business, Marshall said.
Marshall said the 25-foot tall building would look like other existing Family Dollar stores and would have 38 parking places. A state driveway permit has been applied for, she said.
Marshall said she had not received any indication on when construction would start or when the store would open.
Crosland Southeast, out of Charlotte, is the developer of the project, according to records with the city. Art Consulting Group out of Greenville is doing civil engineering work for the project.
Phone calls to the developer and Family Dollar were not returned.
