Election filing ends with race for Havelock's county board seat

For the N.C. Senate to represent Craven, Carteret and Pamlico counties, Dorthea E. White, Carroll G. Ipock II and Fernie J. Hymon all filed as Democrats and face a primary election in May, with the winner going against Republican incumbent Norman Sanders in November’s general election.

On the federal level, incumbent Walter Jones faces Taylor Griffin and Al (Big Al) Novice in a May Republican Primary to represent District 3, with the winner facing Democrat Marshall Adame in November.

The U.S. House District 1 seat has primary races for Democrats and Republicans with incumbent Democrat G.K. Butterfield challenged by Dan Whittacre of Henderson, and Republicans Brent Shypulefski of Rocky Mount and Arthur Rich of Garland meeting in the GOP race with winners of both meeting in the fall.
