Cherry Point Marines face charges in Greenville shooting

According to police reports, the incident began as a dispute inside the Phoenix nightclub. The three suspects then allegedly saw the victims’ car at the Sheetz gas station at the intersection of Charles Boulevard and 10th Street. Friday said that Lorevil, Tidwell, and Fonzie used their car to block Tyson’s car on Forbes Street, and then Lorevil allegedly started firing a .45 caliber handgun into vehicle, striking Barrett.

“My understanding is that they pulled in front of them and stopped,” Friday said. “I have no information that says they exchanged gunfire.”

Friday said Greenville police worked with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service at Cherry Point to obtain arrest warrants for the three men.

“We worked very closely with the Naval Investigative Service and we want to give them credit for the substantial work that they did,” Friday said.

He said he was unaware if the gun used in the shooting had been recovered.
