A 12-year-old Carteret County girl at the center of abduction case has been reunited with her father.
The Carteret County Sheriff’s Office said Abigaile Lefevers was returned to her home in the Bogue community Tuesday night.
Timothy Newman, 38, a registered sex offender accused of abducting Abigaile, remained Tuesday night in the Broward County Jail in Florida awaiting extradition.
Newman was located last week in Florida with Abigaile after an Amber Alert was issued on the girl’s disappearance. Newman faces child abduction as well as other charges in the case.
