Charges are pending in a three-car wreck Sunday at Slocum Road and U.S. 70.

No one was seriously injured in the 1 p.m. crash, according to Havelock Police Chief G. Wayne Cyrus.

Kelly Westcott, 44, of Havelock, driving a 2010 Kia, was making a left turn from U.S. 70 East into Slocum Road and failed to recognize that westbound traffic on U.S. 70 still had a green signal, Cyrus said. Westcott pulled into the path of westbound vehicle, a 2004 Dodge operated by Evelyn George, 61, of Havelock, and the two vehicles collided, Cyrus said. The impact caused Westcott’s Kia to spin and strike a 2005 Ford driven by James Engel, 55, of Havelock, on Slocum Road.

Cyrus said the crash was still under investigation but charges would be filed.

The crash caused traffic delays in the area until the scene could be cleared.
