Parking concerns in front of a Havelock business are expected to be discussed during the Havelock Board of Commissioners meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at Havelock City Hall.
City officials report concerns with parking during the evening hours in front of Premiere Martial Arts at 471 U.S. 70 West in Havelock. The business is located off the service road, and frequently during evening hours when classes are offered, vehicles are parked on the side of the service road because there is not enough parking in front of the business.
According to the city, the area in front of the business and the service road is not designated as a no parking area, but safety concerns have been raised about the potential for pedestrians to be hit while crossing the road between parked cars.
Also during Monday’s meeting, commissioners are expected to get an update on construction of a new city hall building. Construction bids for the project are expected by Aug. 13.
The board is also expected to discuss two upcoming economic development meetings, one on July 15 and the other on Aug. 12.
