The Havelock Board of Commissioners is expected to consider allocating more money to expand the city's animal shelter at tonight's meeting.

The city had accepted previous bids on the project but rejected them, citing bids that exceeded the budgeted amount of $42,600 by nearly $60,000 in one case. Commissioners decided to rework the plan and resubmit for bids. The lowest bid on the project then came in at $64,500 from Osprey Construction.

Commissioners are expected to decided whether to allocate more mony for the project during the meeting.

Also during the meeting, Ashley Wimberly will be introduced as Havelock's new assistant director for public services. He had previously worked with the city of Garner.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. today at Havelock City Hall. For more information, call 444-6400.
