Board approves contract for construction of new city hall building

In other business Monday night, the board:

-- scheduled a public hearing on interim financing for the City Hall Project for 7 p.m. on Sept. 23.

-- scheduled a public hearing on a proposed text amendment to the Unified Development Ordinance regarding communication towers and wind energy facilities for Sept. 23.

-- decided against the placement of no parking signs on the service road in front of Premier Martial Arts due to improvements in parking issues in front of the business.

-- declined to take $14,664 out of the city’s reserve fund to pay for new lights on an old fire engine. Instead, the board asked Fire Chief Rick Zaccardelli to take the money out of department funds.

-- heard from Havelock Parks and Recreation director Dave Smith that repairs to fix the roof of the Senior Center will cost $64,308. Commissioners took no action.

-- appointed James Luksza to a vacant seat on the Havelock Appearance Commission.
