Concert set for 7 p.m. Friday at Cherry Point theater

Because of the date of the concert, the band will touch briefly with a musical recognition of a day that will live in infamy.

"If we don’t touch that anniversary of Pearl Harbor, we’re not doing our service," Kopetzki said. "It will be a tribute piece for all service members."

Chief Warrant Officer Benjamin Bartholomew, who led the band for three years, is returning to Cherry Point after leading the Marine band at Quantico, Va. He said the band was ready to put on a good show.

"Everybody loves a Christmas concert and everybody loves Christmas music so as is typical with most of our concerts we’re going to try to give a bit of something for everybody in the audience," he said. "Our goal is to get anyone who perhaps wasn’t into the Christmas spirit when they come in the door, they will definitely be in the Christmas spirit when they leave."

The concert is free and open to the public. It starts at 7 p.m. and the doors open at 6 p.m. There is no assigned seating. Donations for Toys for Tots will be accepted.
