Havelock teen facing multiple drug charges
A teenager is facing multiple felony drug charges after his arrest on Tuesday in Havelock.
Alan Keith Elam, 18, identified as a military dependent, was arrested after an investigation by a multi-agency drug and alcohol task force, according to Havelock police.
Havelock Police Chief G. Wayne Cyrus said his department, Naval Criminal Investigative Service at Cherry Point, the base’s Criminal Investigation Division and N.C. Alcohol Law Enforcement worked together on the investigation that led to Elam’s arrest.
According to a release, Elam sold drugs and counterfeit drugs to investigators multiple times. As part of the investigation, officers seized narcotics believed to be Oxycodone Hydrochloride tablets, MDMA or “Ecstasy” tablets, counterfeit Oxycodone tablets and counterfeit LSD tablets.
Elam has been charged with three counts of felony sell and delivery of a Schedule II controlled substance, three counts of felony possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance, one count of sell and delivery of a Schedule I controlled substance, one count of possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule I controlled substance, one count of sell and delivery of a counterfeit controlled substance, and one count of possession with intent to sell or deliver a counterfeit controlled substance.
Elam was taken before a magistrate and ordered held in the Craven County Jail under a $15,000 bond.
The investigation is ongoing, and the task force will continue to work to fight crimes relating to illegal drugs and illegal use of alcohol, according to the release.
