“It was amazing working together,” said student Amiya Pannell. “We had good ideas.”

“We thought up stuff and tried to put it together,” said student Vivian Ha.

Ha said the app was capable of turning people into frogs and bugs and could give the teacher quiet powers.

“They were awesome,” said Alicea. “They’ve really done a great job with their imagination and their creativity.”

Alicea said the students worked hard to make sure they incorporated all of the story elements in the book.

“It was fun and creative,” said Miles. “When we won, it was like awesome because it was very, very creative and our story had a lot of interest in it.”

Student Karla Funtes said the children started brainstorming ideas and settled on the app idea. The story was selected as one of five finalists in the contest last week.
