The Havelock Senior Center has three special events scheduled within the next week.
The first is a showing of the movie “Quartet” at 3 p.m. on Friday. The PG-rated drama/comedy stars Maggie Smith and Tom Courtenay. Admission is free.
The movie is the last in the series of free Friday movies at the center for October.
The senior center is seeking any regular volunteers or new volunteers who help serve meals or are interested in helping serve meals at the center to attend a special class on either Monday or Tuesday.
The class is part of the senior center’s application for certification to serve meals.
The class is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. both days and should last about 20 minutes. Volunteers are asked to attend just one of the classes.
Also next week, the Havelock Senior Center will host guest speaker Katie Orr at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
Orr is from the Carteret General Hospital Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center and is scheduled to discuss wound care at home and to answer any questions.
Those planning to attend are asked to call in advance or register at the center.
The Havelock Senior Center is located on Trader Avenue between Miller Boulevard and West Main Street in the old post office building just behind the Clark’s Antiques, Art and Collectables store.
