The Havelock Police Department has postponed its Polar Bear Plunge fundraiser until March 8.

Poor weather conditions prevented delivery of the pool that was to be used for the plunge.

The police department is still looking for participants and sponsors for the annual event, which is scheduled for 1 p.m. in the parking lot of the Havelock Walmart.

A portable pool will be set up for participants to jump in. The cost is $25, and those participating then go out and get pledges to take the plunge. Checks should be made out to the North Carolina Special Olympics.

The event is the start of the department’s fundraising efforts that include the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run later in the year.

For more details, call James MacRoberts, Tucker Creek school resource officer, at 444-7200 or Lt. Brian Borton at 447-3212.
