The 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing Band from Cherry Point is scheduled to perform its July 4 concert at Lawson Creek Park in New Bern.

The band regularly alternates its July 4 concert between New Bern and Havelock.

The performance is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. at the park. The band will play a variety of music, from jazz, rock and country to traditional patriotic music for the holiday.

After the band’s performance, a special display of fireworks will light up the night sky at the park.

Lawson Creek Park is located off U.S. 70 just past the Trent River Bridge in New Bern.

Admission is free for the concert and fireworks. Those attending can bring chairs and blankets.

Also in New Bern, Tryon Palace will be celebrating the Fourth of July with costumed interpreters, a performance by the Fife and Drum Corps, a live reading of the Declaration of Independence and free admission to the palace gardens.
