The Havelock Senior Center has scheduled a variety of activities for this month, including a CPR class, craft show and its annual Grandparents Day event.
The Havelock Senior Center is located in the old post office building at 103 Trader Ave., between Miller Boulevard and West Main Street. For more information on any of the activities at the senior center, call 444-6445.
CPR classes have been scheduled for today and again on Aug. 14. Along with teaching CPR, the free classes will include instruction on the use of the Automated External Defibrillator machine. The classes are open to the first 10 people who sign up.
The senior center is seeking vendors and crafters to participate in a craft bazaar scheduled for Aug. 16 at the center.
Tables are $25 for crafters and $100 for vendors. Tables for children under age 14 are $15.
The bazaar is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the center and is open to the public.
The center has scheduled its annual Grandparents Day celebration for 2 p.m. on Aug. 24.
Seniors can bring their grandchildren, great-grandchildren or even the grandchildren of friends or neighbors. Activities include Wii bowling, a Hula Hoop contest, food and entertainment.
The cost is $2 for children ages 12 and below and $5 for teenagers and adults.
MYRTLE BEACH TRIP
The senior center has partnered with Accent Travel and Cruises for a three-day bus trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., on Dec. 11 to 13.
The trip includes bus transportation, hotel with breakfast, dinners at the Olive Garden and Original Benjamin’s Calabash Seafood Buffet and two shows, Hot Jersey Nights, which celebrates the music of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, and the Carolina Opry Christmas Show. Some shopping is included in the trip.
The cost is $375 per person based on double occupancy or $450 for single occupancy. A $75 deposit is required by Sept. 15 with full payment due by Oct. 1.
The bus will have stops in Morehead City and Havelock.
A portion of the proceeds will support the Back to School program.
