Havelock chamber holds Christmas party, hands out annual awards

The Havelock Chamber of Commerce held its annual meeting and Christmas Party recently at the Havelock Tourist and Event Center.

As part of the event, the chamber presented its annual awards.

George and Patty Aswad, of Crabby Patty’s in Havelock, received the I Love Havelock award. They were recognized not only for their various contributions to nonprofit groups, but also for organizing a relief supply drive for New York victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Carolina East Health System and Carolina East Medical Center received the chamber’s Member of the Year award. The organization was recognized for its support of many chamber events.

Mary Eastman, of TAGG in Havelock, was named the chamber’s Volunteer of the Year. She was recognized for her work at ribbon-cuttings and chamber luncheons.

Cadence Restaurant was recognized as new member of the year. The West Main Street business played host to a Business After Hours event.

The chamber also handed out various business appearance awards to Ken Schulte of KLS Enterprises which renovated the old Trader Shopping Center in Havelock, both Havelock McDonald’s locations for building renovations, Whiteman’s Engraving and Gerber Collision and Glass, both in Havelock.
