The Military Order of the Purple Heart and the Havelock Chamber of Commerce are seeking veterans of the Korean War who may be interested in receiving a free book called “Korea Reborn: A Grateful Nation Honors War Veterans for 60 Years of Growth.”

The book chronicles a timeline from the Korean War through today’s modern South Korea. The 160-page book that includes photographs is designed by the government of South Korea to honor veterans who fought during the three-year war to keep South Korea free from communist North Korea. About 36,500 Americans died while fighting during the war in Korea.

The chamber of commerce is serving as the liaison between veterans and the Military Order of the Purple Heart to get area veterans a free copy of the book.

For more information on getting a copy of the book, call the Havelock Chamber of Commerce at 447-1101, go by the chamber offices inside the Havelock Tourist and Event Center or email stephanie@havelockchamber.org.
