The Havelock-Cherry Point Rotary Club, with the support of the Havelock Chamber of Commerce, held its annual Havelock Heritage Blues Festival and Reverse Raffle on April 25 at the Havelock Tourist and Event Center.

This serves as our club’s biggest fundraiser of the year, and the proceeds go to support a variety of local, national and international efforts, such as college scholarships for high school seniors, the Coins for Alzheimer’s Research Trust, and the Polio Plus campaign of Rotary International.

We would like to thank all those who purchased reverse raffle tickets and dinner tickets to support our efforts. We would also like to thank all our sponsors, including Stonebridge Dental Associates, 70 West Veterinary Hospital, Super Expressway, BB&T of Havelock, CarolinaEast Health System, the Sherwood Motel, Jackson-Hewitt of Havelock, Donna Comer State Farm Insurance, Furniture Distributors, Clifton Management and Rentals, TAGG and Christopher Noe Funeral Service.

We would also like to thank Havelock High band director Jorge Benitez and the members of the Havelock High Jazz Ensemble and their support team, Amanda Ohlensehlen and her staff at the Havelock Tourist and Event Center, Stephanie Duncan and her staff at the Havelock Chamber of Commerce, the Music Maker Foundation and musicians Cool John Ferguson, Captain Luke and Big Ron Hunter, and Fat Fellas for providing our dinner.

We thank all those involved in making this event successful and believe you truly exemplify the Rotary motto “Service Above Self.”

Mary Bares, President, Havelock-Cherry Point Rotary Club
