Letter: Parents of 9/11 victim appreciate memorial

Published: Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at 14:48 PM.

Sharon and I would like to thank the citizens of Havelock and the administration for remembering the victims and survivors of 9/11. The memorial is one way to ensure that future generations will remember the sacrifices of that day.

Our son, Dr. Paul W. Ambrose, was a 32-year-old physician who was aboard American Airlines flight 77 that the terrorists flew into the Pentagon. He was a Luther Terry Fellow working for Surgeon General Dr. David Satcher, and he was going to L.A. for a conference on childhood obesity. He was the chief scientist who wrote the national call to action on obesity.

The memorial is such a wonderful tribute to all those who perished on 9/11, and all the first responders and others who provided help at that time.

We send our heartfelt thanks to all of you for your support of this project and its reminder to all that "We Shall Never Forget." We offer our hope and prayers for peace in the future. "We Are United in Memory."

Sharon and Kenneth Paul Ambrose, Emerald Isle
