Letter: Department of Veterans Affairs needs to improve

Published: Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 04:16 PM.

I’m writing this letter in response to a letter I recently received from The Department of Veterans Affairs.

The letter was informing me of a bill they had just paid. The service provided to me was for my dental work. The work was done the beginning of May 2012. It took eight months to pay my dentist.

As a disabled veteran and retired Marine, I find this to be a hardship put onto us veterans. Why does it take so long to pay the bill? When people know they aren’t going to get paid for eight months, they are not as likely to want to provide the veteran with the service as needed, putting a hardship on all veterans seeking care.

Nobody really wants to wait eight months to get paid for a job. This is why it is so hard for veterans to find doctors who are willing to deal with the Department of Veteran Affairs. This needs to be improved immediately.
