Circus coming to town
Don’t frown, the clowns are coming to town.
The Cole Brothers Circus of the Stars returns to Havelock Wednesday and Thursday with shows at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. each day.
The Big Top will be set up in Walter B. Jones Park near the Havelock City Hall for the return of the show, which is hosted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7315 in Havelock.
Headlining this year will be a return of tigers, plus a special appearance of the world’s largest cat a liger, which is a half lion and half tiger.
Other animal features are scheduled to include elephants, camels, llamas, ponies and zebras. Third-generation performer Jennifer Herriott Walker is part of the show with her playful poodles act.
This year the circus will feature an all-female Guatemalan group called Angels in Air Trapeze that will take to the upper lofts of the Big Top for high-flying performances over the circus ring.
The Globe of Death is returning this year featuring motorcycling teens that ride loops inside a steel sphere. There will be a free-style motor show featuring daredevil ATV driving.
The boisterous Bermudez brigade of clowns will create comical commotion throughout the event.
The show wouldn’t be complete without an appearance by the world’s largest cannon and human cannonball Super Kellan taking flight through the Big Top.
Ringmaster Chris Conners, who has been with the circus for nine years, and Ring Hostess Alissandra Von Rose will be returning to guide the audience through the show.
Elephant rides will be offered one hour before each show.

Ticket prices for adult general admission are $17. Child and senior tickets are $12. Reserved tickets are $3 plus general admission. VIP seat tickets are $5 plus general admission.
