Three teens charged with car break-ins
Three teens have been accused of multiple vehicle break-ins in the Newport area.
Derien Alexander Medders, 17; Jaleel William Anthony Evans, 19; and Forrest Alden Mercer, 17, all of Newport, were charged Monday by the Newport Police Department with five counts of felony break and enter a motor vehicle, and three counts each of misdemeanor larceny from motor vehicle and misdemeanor possession of stolen property.
Authorities say the arrests came after an investigation into numerous vehicle break-ins on Roy Court, South Lakeview, Newport Circle and the New Bern Street area of Newport.
Newport police say some of the stolen items have been recovered and they are still working with victims to identify other items reported missing and recovered.

Bond was set at $1,000 each for the three teens.
