Regular trash service is scheduled to pick up in Havelock starting on Wednesday as the city continues to recover from Hurricane Florence.

Waste Industries, the city’s contracted trash service company, is scheduled to begin a normal schedule on Wednesday, according to city officials. Recycling services have been suspended for the rest of the week.

The trash service does not include any storm debris pickup. Havelock residents must place storm debris in three specific piles — yard debris, appliances, and household or construction debris. Such debris that is mixed and in one pile will not be picked up, according to city officials.

The American Red Cross is scheduled to serve 400 meals for lunch and dinner today at Havelock High School.

The boil water advisory for western sections of Havelock (anything west of the main intersection at U.S. 70 and N.C. 101) remains in effect.

Also in Havelock, the scheduled Board of Adjustment meeting has been canceled.

Power remained out in many Havelock locations. City officials have said those without power and seeking information on outages should contact their utility company and not the city.
