1. School physicals: The Cumberland County Health Department can help families whose children need physicals or vaccinations before heading back to school. The Child Health Clinic provides kindergarten and school physicals. The clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. To make an appointment, call 433-3600. The Immunization Clinic provides all required vaccines for North Carolina children. It is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with extended hours until 7 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. The clinics are at 1235 Ramsey St.

2. Citizens Police Academy: The Fayetteville Police Department is looking for residents who are interested in attending the next Citizens Police Academy, which starts Sept. 11. The academy will meet every Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. until Nov. 6. The academy is designed to provide residents with comprehensive information about the operations of the Police Department. 3. Wing Fling: The Vision Resource Center and Mountaire Farms will host the third annual Out of Sight Wing Fling on Aug. 25 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Festival Park. The event is a fundraiser for the center, which serves the blind and visually impaired. In addition to wings, there will be entertainment and a kids zone. Wing sampling cards are $10 per person.
