HAVELOCK — Police have issued an arrest warrant for Rodney Rashawn Gibbs for the shooting of two men in the Sunset Inn parking lot Wednesday evening.

The victims, J. Vachon and S. Todd, both suffered leg wounds.

Police were called to the Sunset Inn at approximately 7:10 p.m. on Wednesday, where they found evidence “suggesting multiple shots were fired in the parking lot,” according to a news release.

 

Just as officers arrived on the scene, Vachon arrived at the police station, where he was transported to CarolinaEast Medical Center.

Upon further investigation, police found Todd, who was also transported to CarolinaEast Medical Center.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, police are charging Gibbs with one count of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, and one count of a felon in possession of a firearm.

Gibbs is still at large and is considered armed and dangerous as well as a flight risk.

Police are asking anyone with information on Giibbs to contract their local law enforcement agency.
