Embers to perform Friday night

1. St. Christopher’s Easter services

St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Havelock has announced times for its Lenten services.

The Good Friday service is scheduled for noon on Friday. The Easter Sunday service is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Sunday.

St. Christopher’s is located at the corner of East Main and Nunn streets across from Bojangles.

2. St. Paul Easter services

St. Paul Lutheran Church in Havelock has scheduled its Easter week services.

The Maundy Thursday service with stripping of the altar is scheduled for 7 p.m. today.

The Good Friday service with Holy Communion is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday.

An Easter sunrise service is scheduled for 6:30 a.m. Sunday, with breakfast from 7:30 to 9:45 a.m. with the Easter divine worship service scheduled for 10 a.m. An Easter egg hunt for children will follow the 10 a.m. service.

3. The Embers to perform

The Embers featuring Craig Woolard are scheduled to perform beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday at the Salt in Emerald Isle.

The North Carolina-based band plays a variety of beach, party, soul and rhythm and blues music, performing an average of 225 shows per year with a focus on the East Coast and Gulf Coast. The seven-member band is part of the South Carolina Beach Music Hall of Fame and has performed from the Caribbean to South Korea.

4. Bernaroo Battle of Bands

The inaugural Bernaroo Music & Arts Festival Battle of the Bands is slated for 8 p.m. Saturday at the Brown Pelican, 411 Broad St., New Bern.

Four bands will perform for the chance to open an evening of Bernaroo 2018 at the New Bern Farmer's Market.

Artists will be judged on several different facets of performance, but the biggest level of input is the audience feedback.

Artists performing include Peace Soldier, a Southern Rock and blues bands from New Bern; Underground District of New Bern; JIMMY from Greenville and Nevernauts from Hope Mills.

The Music & Arts Festival is slated for July 20 and 21, kicking off the first night at the New Bern Farmers Market.

5. Martha’s Mission fundraiser

Shortway Brewing Company is Newport has scheduled a fundraiser for the Martha’s Mission food pantry from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday.

The event features live music from the band WireGrass. Participants can bring in a non-perishable food item to receive a $1 gift certificate toward your next purchase. There is a limit of two certificates per person.
