1. Women in the Workplace: Cumberland County District Court Judge Tiffany Whitfield and former state Sen. Margaret Dickson will discuss their experiences as working women as part of a panel discussion Thursday at Methodist University. The Wonder Women Panel & Networking event also will include retired Army Command Sgt. Maj. Ruby Murray, who is the JROTC instructor at South View High School, and Iman Moore, chairwoman of Methodist University’s Department of Occupational and Environmental Management. The event, which will be in the Berns Student Center on campus, is free and open to the public. A networking reception is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., followed by the panel discussion at 7. Donations of feminine hygiene products are requested, but are not required.
2. FSU Open House: Fayetteville State University will have an open house for prospective students and their families on March 24 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration begins at 8 a.m. The event will include visits to various academic departments and presentations by financial aid and admissions. 3. Mirror Lake dam open house: The city will hold an open house about the reconstruction of the Mirror Lake dam on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at VanStory Hills Elementary School, 400 Foxhall Road. City staff will reveal the preliminary design for the dam and answer questions. A portion of Mirror Lake Drive and the dam were damaged by Hurricane Matthew in October 2016.
