Hines, Jones face multiple charges

The Havelock Police Department announced two arrests as part of a four-month drug investigation.

Derek Christopher Hines, 64, of Havelock, and Solomon Jones, 62, of Maysville, both face multiple drug charges, according to a release from the Havelock Police Department.

Hines was charged with six counts of trafficking opium or heroin, one count of possession with intent to manufacture, sell or distributed a schedule II substance, one count of manufacture a schedule II substance, and one count of maintaining a vehicle for selling controlled substances, according to the release. He was placed in the Craven County Jail under a $3 million bond.

Jones was charged with four counts of trafficking opium or heroin and one count of maintaining a vehicle for selling controlled substances, according to the release. He was placed in the Craven County Jail under a $750,000 bond.

The Cherry Point Naval Criminal Investigative Service, the Carteret County Sheriff's Office and the Morehead City Police Department were also involved in the cases.

The investigation continues and more charges and arrests are possible, according to the release.
