Havelock resident Bonnie Gould has been hired as the Child Care Resource and Referral director for Craven Smart Start. She succeeds Rachel Ward, who retired from the position in August.

Gould has worked with Craven Smart Start for the past four years as the regional infant/toddler specialist. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Child Development from Kaplan University and has 24 years of experience as a child care center director. She also has certifications in early education and infant toddler child care training, and is certified to train child care directors in infant toddler program management.

Craven Smart Start’s Child Care Resource and Referral Program is designed to raise the quality of child care by providing training and technical assistance to Craven County child care providers and early care educators. The program also provides information to parents and the community and operates an early childhood resource lending library for parents and the public.

Child Care Resource and Referral is located at 2111F Neuse Blvd., in New Bern.
