Four candidates seeking two board seats
The Havelock Chamber of Commerce has scheduled a Havelock Board of Commissioners Candidates Forum for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Annunciation Catholic School.
Two commissioner seats are up for election on Nov. 7, and four candidates are running for those two seats — incumbents George Corbin and Brenda Wilson, and challengers James Kohr and Jimmy Sanders.
The mayoral seat is also up for election Nov. 7, but incumbent mayor Will Lewis is running unopposed.
Annunciation Catholic School is located at 246 East Main St., across from Havelock City Park.
The deadline to register to vote in the Havelock municipal election is 5 p.m. Oct. 13.
However, those who miss the voter registration deadline can register and vote on the same day during the early voting period, assuming they have been residents of Havelock for more than 30 days.
Early voting is scheduled for weekdays from Oct. 19 to Nov. 3 at the Craven County Board of Elections office in the Craven County Administration Building on Craven Street in downtown New Bern. Times are 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Early voting is also available on Nov. 4 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Board of Elections office.
There is no early voting site in Havelock.
Election Day voting on Nov. 7 takes place at the Havelock Tourist and Event Center. Polls are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Those voting on Election Day must be registered to vote in the city of Havelock.
