Fort Macon continues summer concert series

1. Croaker Festival

“Celebrating our Fishing Heritage” is this year’s theme for the 2017 Croaker Festival Friday through Sunday across the Neuse River in Oriental.

The festival features vendors, arts and crafts, food, nonprofit and information booths, a children’s carnival, a regatta, live music and a Saturday parade. Fireworks will be featured as well.

This year’s parade will feature a Marine Corp marching band.

On opening night, the Pamlico Chorale and Pamlico Community Band will perform, along with a street dance by Jill and the Authentics – jazz, blues and rock.

The Saturday lineup plays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The entertainers include Saltwater Acoustics, Ken Belangia, The Moore’s Creek Boys, The Four Shots and a Zumba demo.

The national headline band takes the stage on the South Avenue waterfront at 7 p.m., Masters of Soul Show and TFC Dance Band.

Little Miss Minnow and Croaker Queen pageants are Friday night.

2. Scearce and Ketner

The Fort Macon Summer Concert Series continues with a performance by Scearce and Ketner from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at Fort Macon.

The band plays a combination of beach and bluegrass music.

Those attending can enjoy a picnic dinner, but alcohol and pets are prohibited.

3. Mayer, Embers in concert

The Salt Bar in Emerald Isle will host a pair of weekend performances from country musician Bryan Mayer on Friday and The Embers on Sunday.

Mayer, known for songs such as “Leaving Town” and “This is Me,” is scheduled to perform from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday.

The Embers, one of the region’s most popular beach music bands, is scheduled to take the stage beginning at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday. The cost is $15, and advance tickets are available online through the Salt Facebook page or by calling 617-750-9005.

4. Arts and Crafts Show

The Carteret County Arts and Crafts Coalition Summer Show is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at the Beaufort Historic Site in downtown Beaufort.

The event features a variety of works from coastal artists and craftsmen.

5. Summer Festival

The Crystal Coast Summer Festival is scheduled from 4 to 10 p.m. Sunday at Big Rock Landing at the Morehead City Waterfront.

The event is a fundraiser for the Wounded Warrior Project. A $5 donation is suggested for general admission. Limited VIP tickets are $25.

The event includes live music from the Chairman of the Board and The Breakfast Club, as well as vendors featuring arts and crafts, local seafood and other food, and beverages.
