Flag Day event set for Saturday

1. Havelock Summer Day Camp

The first session of the Havelock Parks and Recreation Department Summer Day Camp is scheduled to begin on Monday. It runs through June 23.

Regular session hours are 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at a cost of $85 for one child and $75 for each additional child from the same family.

Extended session hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at a cost of $125 per child and $105 for each additional child from the same family.

Drop-in Trip Days are available at a cost for $25 per child.

Various activities are planned throughout the day. Special trips include Fort Macon State Park, West Water Park in Kinston, swim sessions at the Sports Center in Morehead City, Library Reading Program in July, movies and the N.C. Maritime Museum in Beaufort, depending on the session

Other sessions are June 26 to 30 and July 10 to 14, July 17 to 28, and July 31 to Aug. 11.

2. Arts by the Sea Festival

The Arts by the Sea Festival is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in Swansboro.

The event includes a juried craft show with jewelry, glass, paintings, photography and other artwork, live music and a kids art zone featuring children’s craft projects.

Dogs, bikes and skateboards are prohibited.

3. Cruisin’ to the Cape Festival

The Cruisin’ to the Cape Festival and Car Show is scheduled for Friday and Saturday at MacDaddy’s in Cape Carteret.

The event includes live music, food vendors, a beer garden, bounce houses, games, and a ferris wheel.

Activities start at 4 p.m. Friday and continue at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Sign-in and car registration starts at 9 a.m. Friday and ends at noon. The cost is $25 in advance or $30 on the day of the show.

4. Flag Day Celebration

The New Bern Elks Flag Day Celebration is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Union Point Park in New Bern.

The event features vocalist Paul Saik and featured speaker Tom Braaten, a retired Marine Corps general who was once the commanding general at Cherry Point.

5. The Bears to perform

The Bears oldies band is scheduled to perform Saturday at the Trent River Coffee Company, 208 Craven St., New Bern.

Doors open at 6 p.m. for the 7 p.m. show. Tickets are $10, available at the door.
