The 4-by-200 boys team places third
The Havelock High boys 4-by-200 meter relay team brought home a medal from the state 3A track and field championships on Saturday in Greensboro.
The group of Dominick Madden, Mahari Greene, Tyrone Cozart and Marcus Threatt finished third in a time of 1 minute, 29.29 seconds, earning a bronze medal at the meet. West Craven won the event in 1:28.03, giving the Coastal 3A Conference two of the top three positions in the event.
The same Havelock team placed fifth in the 4-by-100 in a time of 42.65. Weddington High won in a time of 42.04.
Havelock’s 4-by-400 team of Tyrell Cozart, Greene, Tyrone Cozart and Quinzel Lockhart placed sixth in a time of 3:27.28. Cuthbertson High won the event in 3:19.91.
For the Havelock girls, Nyesha Patillo sustained a leg injury and wasn’t able to compete in the 200-meter dash. She placed eighth in the 100-meter dash in a time of 12.66. Mya Daye of Northern Vance won the event in 11.96.
Arianna Turner finished 10th in the shot put with a throw of 34 feet, 4.75 inches. Kamryn Henderson of Marvin Ridge won with a throw 40 feet, 3 inches.
Olivia Kinsey was 15th in the 300 hurdles in a time of 50.72. Jorja Medders of Marvin Ridge won the event in 44.36.
The Havelock 4-by-200 relay team of Patillo, Kinsey, Michelle Prichard and Alera Jackson was 16th in a time of 1:58.31. Northern Guilford won the event in 1:42.69.
