Car show planned for New Bern

1. Feds Feed Families 5K Run

The Federal Managers Association Chapter No. 21 has scheduled its Feds Feed Families 5K fun run and one-mile walk for Saturday in Havelock.

Proceeds from the race and T-shirt sales benefit local food pantries and shelters.

Check-in is at 7 a.m. with the race at 8 a.m. at the Wells Wayside parking lot at Tucker Creek. The route is through the Tucker Creek neighborhood.

2. Navy Federal Credit Union Shred Day

The Navy Federal Credit Union in Havelock has scheduled a document shredding event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Called Shred-eral Day, it is designed to allow residents the opportunity to securely dispose of sensitive materials. Credit union members and residents can bring up to four 12-by-14 boxes of paper and documents to be shredded. The event will continue until 1 p.m. or until the truck is full.

Items such as bills, checking account statements and other financial documents can be shredded during the event.

3. Balsam Range Bluegrass Concert

The bluegrass band Balsam Range is scheduled to play a fundraising concert for the Rotary Club of Morehead City at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Carteret Community Theatre.

Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door. Proceeds go toward the club’s college scholarships for high school seniors.

Carteret Community Theatre is located at 1311 Arendell St. in Morehead City.

4. Spring Car Show

Vintage and classic motor vehicles spanning the ages will be showcased in downtown New Bern on Saturday for the 27th Annual Spring Car Show. It is sponsored by the First Capital Chapter of the Antique Automobile Club of America.

The free show will be staged on Middle Street from South Front Street to Broad Street and on Pollock Street from the intersection of Middle Street to Craven Street. The exhibit areas will be closed to vehicular traffic.

Vehicles may be entered in the show in advance at a registration fee of $15 or before 10 a.m. the day of the event at a fee of $20. Registration forms are available online at www.ncregionaaca/, by emailing or by calling 637-4503 or 633-6342.

Any vehicle at least 25 years old may be entered in the show regardless of make, model or condition, and an owner does not have to be a member of a car club. 

5. Art Festival

The Plein Air Art Festival and Competition is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Beaufort.

The event is drawing 21 artists. The Downtown Beaufort Development Association and Arts Council of Carteret County are putting on the event.
