Beaufort Wine and Food Festival continues

1 Havelock Plant Swap

The Havelock Appearance Commission has scheduled its annual Spring Plant Swamp from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday at Havelock City Park.

Residents can bring plants, bulbs, seeds, garden tools and gardening magazines to trade. The event is free.

2 Brews and Bites

Allies for Cherry Point’s Tomorrow has scheduled its Brews and Bites fundraiser from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday along the Neuse River off Broad Street in downtown New Bern.

The event will feature a show from stunt pilot Hubie Tolson, a sampling of unique local craft brews and food from a variety of restaurants. The band Merchant’s Row will provide live music.

The event was created as a community event to raise awareness for ACT’s efforts to protect and grow Cherry Point.

3 Beaufort Wine and Food Festival

The Beaufort Wine and Food Festival continues through Sunday at various locations around Beaufort.

The festival includes 20 events with each having various costs and featuring local and regional chefs as well as wine from a variety of vineyards.

4 Battlefield Adventure Day

The Harry Goodman Battlefield Adventure Day for children is Saturday at the New Bern Battlefield Park, located just inside the entrance to the Taberna community on U.S. 70 East between Havelock and New Bern.

The event is full of learning activities, period games, living history and Civil War re-enactors. Visitors can walk through the battlefield park, which has been recently upgraded by the New Bern Historical Society.

The event is for boys and girls ages 6 to12, along with and their parents. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m., with activities from noon to 4 p.m.

The cost for the day is $15 for one child and one adult. Each additional child or adult in a family is $5. Lunch is included. Registration is limited to 80 children.

5 Sports and Recreation Expo

The Crystal Coast Sports and Recreation Expo is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Crystal Coast Civic Center in Morehead City.

The event will feature vendors offering activities and education about their products and services as well as demonstrations of outdoor activities for children.

Admission is $2, with children ages 3 and under free. The price includes all attractions and interactive booths.
