The North Carolina Court of Appeals is holding special sessions in the area this week as part of a celebration of the court’s 50th anniversary.
The public is invited to attend as a three-judge panel of the court hears cases April 4 at the Carteret County Courthouse in Beaufort and April 5 at Craven County Superior Court in New Bern.
The events are being held to celebrate the Court of Appeals 50th anniversary and to educate the public about the function North Carolina’s courts serve.
The event in Carteret County will begin at 2 p.m. The panel of judges will include Chief Judge Linda M. McGee, Judge Robert N. Hunter Jr., and Judge J. Douglas McCullough.
Attendees will include local criminal justice and paralegal students from Carteret Community College, the East Carteret High School Moot Court Team, members of the teen court as well as local lawyers and court personnel.
The Craven County event will begin at 10 a.m., with the panel of judges including McGee, McCullough, and Judge Chris Dillon. Attendees will include members of the local legal community as criminal justice and paralegal studies students from Craven Community College.
