Bites and Blues fundraiser also part of weekend schedule

1. Authors Luncheon:

The Havelock-Craven County Public Library has scheduled its annual Authors Luncheon for 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Cherry Point United Methodist Church in Havelock.

The event features lunch and the chance to talk with a variety of authors about their works. Books will be available for sale and autographing.

This year’s list of authors scheduled to attend includes Kristy Woodson Harvey, Joey Jones, Jay Kenton Manning, John Murphy, Sam Love, Evelyn Heckhaus and Charles Watson.

Tickets are $20 each, with proceeds going to support the Havelock-Craven County Public Library. Tickets are available at the library, located on the Havelock campus of Craven Community College on Cunningham Boulevard.

Cherry Point United Methodist Church is located at 103 Methodist Drive, across from Havelock Middle School.

2. Time, Talent and Treasures Auction:

The annual Cherry Point Officers’ Spouses’ Club Time, Talent and Treasures Auction is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday at Miller’s Landing at Cherry Point.

Advance tickets are $15 per person. VIP tickets that include a drink and raffle ticket are $20.

The event includes live and silent auctions, heavy hors d’oeuvres and cash bar.

Attire is business casual, though roaring 20s attire is encouraged.

3. Spring Sale:

The Annunciation Catholic School Angels and Saints Resale Shop has scheduled its Spring Sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

The store is located next to the school at 246 East Main St., across from Havelock City Park.

Clothing items will be $1 each with sizes from infant to 3X for men, women and children. Uniforms are not included in the sale, but shoes and handbags are.

4. Bites and Blues:

The Bites and Blues fundraiser is scheduled from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at various sites along the Morehead City Waterfront.

Tickets are $40 and allows visitors to visit various restaurants for a bite while listening to various musical artists.

A portion of the proceeds will go to the Carteret Community College Culinary Arts Program.

5. Beer and Wine Festival:

The Morehead City Noon Rotary Club has scheduled its Beer and Wine Festival beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Morehead City Civic Center.

Tickets are $40 each and include a beer tasting from eight North Carolina breweries and live music from the band Spare Change.

Proceeds will go to a number of local charities, including the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
