No one injured in Tuesday afternoon blaze

HARLOWE | A mobile home was destroyed in a fire Tuesday afternoon along Cahooque Creek Road.

According to EMS Director Stanley Kite, the fire began in the bedroom of the home at 503 Cahooque Creek Road. No one was home when it broke out about 1 p.m. in the afternoon.

A spokesman with the Harlowe Volunteer Fire Department said that firefighters were on the scene until about 5:30 p.m. Assisting in battling the blaze were fire departments from Cherry Point, Township 6, Mill Creek and “one from Carteret County.” No firefighters were injured as they put out the blaze.

The mobile home is co-owned by Robert Nelson and the Wanda Willis estate. The resident is listed as Steve Godette, according to Kite.

A cause of the fire has not been determined.
