Chocolate festival also part of weekend events
1. Korean University Choir
First United Methodist Church in Havelock is scheduled to host the Korean University Choir on Sunday.
The choir will be singing at the 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. services. The event is open to the public.
The choir is from Myongji University, a private Christian university founded in 1948. It offers engineering, sciences and humanities courses on its two campuses in Seoul and Yongin, South Korea.
First United Methodist Church is located at 324 Miller Blvd., in Havelock.

2. Angels and Saints Gala
Annunciation Catholic School in Havelock has scheduled its annual Angels and Saints Gala fundraiser from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday at Miller’s Landing at Cherry Point.
Tickets are $40 each or $60 per couple and include heavy hors d’oeuvres, entertainment from CK Entertainment, silent and live auctions, and a full cash bar.
The theme for the event is “Growing Minds at Annunciation.”
Annunciation Catholic School, located at 246 East Main St., in Havelock, offers classes from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade.

3. Chocolate Festival
The Carolina Chocolate Festival is scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Morehead City.
The festival includes a variety of events, including a pro/am chocolate fantasy challenge, 5K race, chocolate spa, and a cakes/cupcakes competition.
The main event featuring chocolate vendors, samples and purchases is 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Crystal Coast Civic Center in Morehead City.
Admission is $9 for adults, $2 for children ages 5 to 12 and free for children less than age 5. Those with military identification will be admitted free on Sunday.

4. Reading Fun Day
Reading Fun Day is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the New Bern Mall.
The event is open for children up to age 12. The theme is “Step Outside: Enjoy the Natural World.”
Children who participate in at least four reading stations can receive a free book, while supplies last. Children and parents should register at the main entrance of the New Bern Mall. There is no charge.
The event features 21 schools from Craven County with a variety of literacy activities in various reading stations throughout the mall. The event also will include a preschool area, coordinated and supported by Craven Smart Start.
Reading Fun Day is a local literacy outreach project sponsored and coordinated by the Twin Rivers Council of the International Reading Association, Craven Smart Start and the Sun Journal’s Newspapers in Education (NIE) Program with the support of the New Bern Mall.

5. James Gregory
Comedian James Gregory is scheduled to perform as part of the WSFL Comedy Jam at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Carteret Community Theatre in Morehead City.
Gregory is a frequent guest on the John Boy and Billy Big Show morning radio show on WSFL-FM 106.5.
