Cause of fire not yet released
HAVELOCK | Four families were displaced early Sunday morning after a fire swept through Havelock Manor Apartments on Shipman Road.
No one was injured in the fire that burned through the roof of the apartment complex, according to Havelock’s public information officer, Lauren Wargo.
Firefighters from three departments — Havelock, Cherry Point and Township 6 — responded to the fire, and residents from nearby apartments were evacuated, Wargo said.
According to Havelock Fire Chief Rick Zaccardelli, when the fire burned through the roof of the apartments, it caused external damage to the building, Wargo said.
Havelock Manor has 60 rental units and can house up to 220 people when fully occupied, according to the website Affordable Housing Online.
The American Red Cross is assisting the families.
A cause of the fire has yet to be released.
