Juvenile also detained

A Havelock man was arrested in Zebulon for possessing a stolen car.

Lavette Hinton faces a charge of possession of a motor vehicle as well as a probation violation, according to a release from the Nash County Sheriff’s Office.

At 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 11, authorities received a 9-1-1 call about two suspicious people dressed in all black walking on Happy Drive in the Eagle Ridge neighborhood of Zebulon, according to the release. Deputies responded and noticed a vehicle parked on nearby Talon Drive that had been reported stolen earlier in the morning from Havelock.

The vehicle was parked near the home a family friend of Lavette Hinton’s and an accompanying 15-year-old juvenile. The homeowner was contacted, and the home was searched, with authorities locating Hinton and the juvenile inside, according to the release.

Hinton was given a $15,000 bond on the possession of a stolen vehicle charge and a $35,000 bond on the probation violation, according to the release. The juvenile was taken to the Wake County Juvenile Detention Center and was served with a juvenile petition for possession of a stolen vehicle.
