Victims of hurricane may be eligible for federal assistance
The Federal Emergency Management Agency has added Craven County to its list of counties in which people are eligible for federal assistance in the wake of Hurricane Matthew.
Those impacted by the storm can register with FEMA by calling 1-800-621-3362 or going online to www.disasterassistance.gov.
Registration is required to begin the process to receive recovery assistance from FEMA. Craven County officials are encouraging anyone impacted from the storm to register.
Hurricane Matthew struck on Oct. 8 and 9 with winds that reached more than 60 mph in the area. Heavy rains inland produced river flooding that damaged a number of homes in western Craven County.
