Craven County Schools will have early dismissal today due to the approach of Tropical Storm Hermine.

According to Jennifer Wagner, a spokesman from the school system, high school students will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m., followed by elementary school students at 1 p.m.. Middle School students will be let out at 1:30 p.m.

At 8 a.m., Hermine's center was onshore in southern Georgia and headed north-northeastward at 14 miles per hour. The storm has maximum sustained winds of 60-miles per hour.

The forecast track calls for the storm to travel inland along the coast of South Carolina and North Carolina until is passes over or near Havelock in the early morning hours Saturday still as a tropical storm.

Expected rains are from four to ten inches. Winds at the time the storm passes over Havelock are expected to be about 45 miles per hour.
