Events highlight Labor Day weekend
1. End of Summer Bash
The End of Summer Bash is scheduled from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday at the Salt Ultra Lounge in Emerald Isle.
The event will feature Jim Quick and the Coastline Band, which specializes in beach and party music.
Salt Ultra Lounge is located at 325 Mangrove Drive in Emerald Isle.

2. Carolina Beach Club in concert
The Carolina Beach Club band is scheduled to play a free concert from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Jaycee Park, 807 Shepard St., on the Morehead City Waterfront.
The band plays a variety of beach and top 40 music.
The concert is part of the Morehead City Parks and Recreation Department’s Summer Concert Series.

3. Stanly-Spaight Duel
The annual re-enactment of the Stanly-Spaight Duel is scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday at Tryon Palace.
In the event of rain, performances will be moved into the N.C. History Center’s Cullman Performance Hall.
Admission is $6 for adults and $3 for students. Admission is also included with purchase of a Tryon Palace One Day Pass.
The event is a re-enactment of the Sept. 5, 1802 between the prominent New Bern lawyer and his political rival.
Early visitors can tour the gardens, with a performance by the Palace’s Fife and Drum Corps kicking off the festivities.

4. Murder Mystery Dinner
The Friends of the N.C. Maritime Museum have scheduled a Murder Mystery Dinner from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday in Beaufort.
The cost is $40 per person, with dinner provided by Clawson’s 1905 Restaurant. Wine will be available for purchase.
Tickets can be purchased at the museum, which is located at 315 Front St., in Beaufort. Reservations are required.

5. Vulture Day
The N.C. Aquarium and Pine Knoll Shores has scheduled International Vulture Awareness Day celebrations on Saturday and Sunday.
Special activities will focus on the virtues of vultures and the problems the birds face. Events include close-up encounters with vultures, interactive activities and a vulture craft to take home.
The N.C. Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores is located at 1 Roosevelt Blvd., just south of Atlantic Beach off N.C. 58.
