A reduction of operating hours for the Havelock Recreation Center and the Havelock Senior Center will be taken up for discussion at tonight’s regular meeting of the Havelock Board of Commissioners.
Parks and Recreation Director Travis Adams will present a proposal to commissioners that the recreation center open later in the morning and close earlier in the evening. Adams will propose that the senior center close earlier in the evening.
The current operating hours for the Havelock Recreation Center are 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays. Adams proposes new hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays.
Current operating hours for the Havelock Senior Center are from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday. The recommendation is to open the center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
City manager Frank Bottorff is backing the plan.
If the board approves the plan, the new regime will be effective August 29.
In other matters the board will receive a report from Public Services Director Mark Sayger on sewer lateral maintenance transfers from property owners to the city.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the city hall.
