Veterans parade planned for Morehead City
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The Carteret County Veterans Council has scheduled its annual Veterans Day parade for 11 a.m. Saturday on Arendell Street in Morehead City.
Rodolfo "Rudy" P. Hernandez is scheduled to be the grand marshal of the parade. Hernandez was awarded the Medal of Honor as a corporal in the Korean War. While injured in battle, he fought off an enemy attack and killed six single-handedly.
U.S. Rep. Walter Jones, N.C. Sen. Jean Preston and N.C. Rep. Pat McElraft, and retired generals Tom Tempel, Jim Mead and Joe Wagner are among the dignitaries scheduled to attend the parade in honor of Veterans Day, which is Tuesday.
The veterans council is seeking organizations, businesses and individuals wishing to participate in the parade.
