Changes come to Web site
Comments 0 | Recommend 0For some time now, we have been directing our readers to our Web site, www.havenews.com, to view features you can't get in the newspaper and to see updates to stories as well as new stories between our publication dates.
Now, we have added another element that we think will make your experience with our Web site easier as well as more interactive.
We have launched Pluck's SiteLife social media platform at havenews.com.
So, what does this mean to you?
For starters, it will provide you a chance to create your own profile page, share photos, participate in forums and even write your own blog through the site.
You'll also be able to comment on and recommend stories for other users of the Web site just as before. However, you will have to register to leave comments on stories. But, you can still comment without using your real name. Your user name will appear next to their comment.
We know from experience that the comment section on our stories posted at havenews.com are popular. However, we also know that it can sometimes be abused.
We think this new platform will help reduce that abuse, such as the deleting of comments simply because a few users disagree with the opinion contained within it.
The main goal of the switch is to create a platform where ideas and opinions can be discussed.
Meanwhile, the content of the Web site won't change. You can still find videos, such as from Sunday night's hail storm or from the latest high school band concert, as well as special Web productions that enhance the stories you read every Wednesday in the Havelock News.
We will also continue to post breaking news, other new stories and our gas price check throughout the week on the Web site.
As we go through the change, the Web site may experience temporary problems and outages, but we expect any problems to be short in length.
We appreciate you reading the Havelock News and using our Web site, and we believe these changes will only enhance your experience.

We want our site to be a place where people discuss and debate ideas that foster stronger communities. We built this for you. Please take care of it. Tolerate broad thinking, but take action against obscene or hateful material. Make it a credible and safe place worth preserving and sharing.
