Girl Scouts launch annual cookie sale drive
Rainbow Service Unit communications representatives Cindy Ring describes the 2002 order form to motivated Girl Scouts Saturday morning.
Girls Scouts prepared for their annual Cookie Sale with with an overnight lock-in at Roger Bell Elementary School.
Scouts of all ages, troop leaders and volunteer parents converged on the school at 7 p.m. Friday for a night of fun and games in preparation for the launch of their cookie drive.
On Saturday morning parents arrived to collect their motivated cookie sellers.
The Scouts, of the Rainbow Service Unit and Cherry Point, use the lock-in as a kick-off to their fund raiser.
The gathering serves to acquaint them with the order forms and procedures, as well as provide safety tips.
While the Scouts enjoyed their games and activities, their chaperones prepared the order forms that will blanket the area for the next week.
The cookie orders will be collected until Sunday with deliveries to start Feb. 16.
Booth sales in various locations will be held until March 10.
Proceeds from each local Girl Scout cookie sale stay within the local community, including a portion that goes directly to the Girl Scout troop. Girls typically use this money for special activities and community service projects.
