Celebrating red hats

Members of area chapters of the Red Hat Society celebrated the organization's 11th birthday with a lunch Saturday at Ham's restaurant in Havelock. The event drew 74 women from Havelock, New Bern, Newport and Bridgeton and included lunch, cake, gifts and plenty of socializing. The Red Hat Society is a fellowship organization for women ages 50 and older.
