AARP Foundation offers help with tax preparation

The nonprofit AARP Foundation has scheduled free tax preparation from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays at Coastal Beacon Church of the Nazarene in Havelock. The church is located on Greenfield Heights Boulevard across the railroad tracks behind Food Lion. The program offers free tax preparation and is designed for seniors and low- to moderate-income families who can’t afford to pay a professional tax preparer. The program uses volunteer preparers who have received training on filing both federal and state income tax returns. Those seeking help with their taxes must bring a copy of their previous year’s return plus all documents relating to income and deductions as well as Social Security numbers for all dependents.
